An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga Inc. team to support the co-ordination of our marae and administration for our Rūnanga.

Reporting to the Executive, as a Kairurku expert, you will be called upon for your advice, expertise and will be asked to proactively look for ways to improve processes and make things more accessible for whānau.

What we are looking for:

We're looking for an enthusiastic, professional, whānau driven individual to join our team at the pā. Someone that understands the intricacies of rūnanga structure, that can demonstrate a positive and proactive approach. You will need strong relationship management skills, work collaboratively, and enjoy meeting people. You will need to be a self-starter who demonstrates initiative and provides exceptional support. Having the right person is important to us - using your administrative experience and drive for results, you will have the opportunity to make a difference.

To be successful in this role, you will be:

A3Kaitiaki Ltd (A3K) is a subsidiary company owned by Ōtākou Ltd – Te Rūnanga o Ōtākou. Established in 2007, A3K is focused on supporting whānau in navigating the criminal justice system.

The Role

We are look for a fabulous, dynamic Kaihautū | Manager to continue the growth of A3K and lead our wonderful team delivering this very special mahi with and for the whānau we serve in our community.

The Person

We are looking for someone who has a heart for working with whānau, can lead and inspire others and who is passionate about working in a kaupapa Māori environment. Our Kaihautū | Manager will enjoy connecting with a range stakeholders and nurturing a range of relationships locally, regionally and nationally. We need a Kaihautū | Manager who will thrive when faced with the inherent challenges within the social services sector and who is also alert to the opportunities within this complex space. They will be dedicated to Te Ao Māori and unwavering in advocating for some of the most vulnerable whānau in our rohe

Qualifications and Experience

• Management / senior leadership experience

• A qualification that informs the work and social sector environment (desirable)

• Budget setting and financial management

• Delivering on medium- and long-term strategic goals, as well as annual objectives

• People and culture management

• Experience in working with vulnerable whānau

• Computer literate e.g. MS Suite and Virtual Conferencing

Skills and Strengths

• Successfully enhance the mana of each individual

• A proven ability to engage successfully with people from all walks of life

• An expert in manaakitaka and whakawhanaukataka

• A strong working and lived knowledge of culture, diversity and Te Ao Māori

• Ability to identify and respond to different tikaka? and expectations

• The ability to develop and maintain effective professional and whānau relationships

• An effective communicator with the ability to write clear and informative reports for a variety of audiences

• Proficiency in tikaka Māori and te reo Māori

• Flexible, adaptable and professional at all times

We're searching for enthusiastic Lodge Hosts (could be partners, friends or individuals) to work in an intimate hosting team to welcome, wine and dine our manuhiri (guests) at our newly renovated private luxury lodges. Ka Tuku Lodge is nestled among the native forest at the confluence of the Hollyford and Pyke Rivers and is a happy sight for guests after a long day out exploring. Waitai Lodge perches by the coast at Martins Bay and is a great launching pad for guests' adventures or a relaxing soak in our wood-fired hot tubs—an experience like no other! 

As a hosting team, you'll be responsible for providing a high-end memorable lodge experience.

  • Chefs will provide delicious kai (food) - breakfast, lunch and immaculately plated three-course meal featuring delicacies such as venison and blue cod. With your ability to bring meals to life, you'll ensure that every dish is a culinary delight (including catering for dietary requirements).

  • Housekeeping will ensure private rooms, ensuites and all lodge areas are presented in a pristine manner.

  • All Lodge Hosts will provide world-class manaakitanga (hospitality) and share the richness of Ngāi Tahu culture and values with our manuhiri.

This is a hands-on role suited to all-rounders with a "can-do" attitude who thrive in a small, dynamic team. If you've had experience in a high-end hospitality venture, this could be the perfect fit. Mōu | About You:

  • A person who thrives on delivering exceptional manaakitanga (hospitality) in a dynamic environment

  • Experience in a fast-paced hospitality setting

  • Experience in professional food preparation (present high-quality meals for up to 24 people), engaging service, and / or, housekeeping

  • Strong administrative skills to help with lodge operations

  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive attitude

  • Strong time management and self-sufficiency

  • High standards and a strong sense of ownership

  • An understanding (or eagerness to learn) of Ngāi Tahu values, history, and te reo Māori

  • Duty Managers Certificate (or beverage service experience) is advantageous

  • Must be able to commit from mid-October 2025 to April/May 2026 

You will work an on-off roster, so will ideally suit those with alternative accommodation in the region or plan on adventuring during days out of the valley. A vehicle is required for your subsidised transport to and from the valley.
