Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu works on behalf of the iwi to manage the collective assets of Ngāi Tahu whānui, to promote and ensure their interests and aspirations are met though representational activities, protecting the rights of Ngāi Tahu Whānui and delivering social and cultural programmes.
The Harakeke Hub Coordinator leads the delivery of the Harakeke Hub Expansion project, and is focused on supporting Papatipu Rūnanga to restore and strengthen mahinga kai.
This role blends project coordination, stakeholder engagement, policy development, and contractor management to ensure the expanded Hub model is successfully delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with Ngāi Tahu values and aspirations.
Working closely with rūnaka, partners, and internal teams, the Coordinator drives planning, reporting, relationship building, and operational delivery to create meaningful outcomes for whānau and communities across the takiwā.
To be successful in the role you will be skilled in:
Project coordination: Able to manage timelines, budgets, contractors, and multi‑stream project delivery.
Relationship building: Confident engaging with Papatipu Rūnaka, whānau, partners, and stakeholders.
Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, with experience preparing reports, plans, and briefings.

Our Rūnaka is involved in establishing Hono ki Tua, a new shared education initiative with Te Rūnanga o Ōtākou & Te Rūnanga o Moeraki. The new initiative will strengthen mana whenua presence across the Araiteuru region & provide for broader access to mātauraka Kai Tahu for whānau & those in the education sector.
Kāti Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki has active commitments that we wish to maintain, including relationships it has invested in with local schools. While there may be a change of focus and management of delivery once Hono ki Tua is fully operational in the meantime we will continue to work with schools where there is a mutually valued relationship, in particular with our Memorandum of Partnership (MOP) schools.
We also have schools coming to Puketeraki Marae in 2026 whom we host with the aim of enriching & growing their understanding of mātauraka Kai Tahu, especially the tikaka & kawa of the marae, along with strengthening familiarity with the pūrākau of Kāti Huirapa ki Puketeraki.
Unfortunately, our current Kaitoko is heading off to train as a Primary School teacher, which is fantastic for her and the children and schools she will be working with in the future. We already miss her.
We are looking for a replacement Kaitoko Mātauraka to help see us through the transition to Hono ki Tua as we really want to continue encouraging the local schools to maintain the changes & growth they have made.
We are calling for Expressions of Interest for this part-time role (.5 FTE) or contract for service opportunity that is required for this calendar year.
Recent knowledge of the education sector and working with taiohi & teachers is a distinct advantage.

The Southeast Marine Protection Programme (SEMP) is delivering Aotearoa's first co-management framework for marine protected areas in partnership with Kāi Tahu. You'll be working alongside Kāi Tahu marine rangers, as the face and beating heart of SEMP operations. Your collaborative approach to delivery of work will uplift both traditional kaitiakitaka practices and contemporary marine conservation. Your success will be measured through people's connection and support of improving the health of the moana, and growing knowledge of the impact that marine protected areas have along the South East coast.
You will implement ecological monitoring, community engagement, and compliance, and support cultural monitoring and activities across six marine reserves and marine protected areas located between Tīmaru and Waipapa Point. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a programme that upholds Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and seeks to embed mātauraka Māori in marine management. Please note, this role includes weekend and evening work to support programme needs.
Key responsibilities:
Form strong working relationships with operational co-management groups to ensure annual planning and activities reflect local priorities and cultural values.
Deliver ecological monitoring in marine protected areas, including keys species surveys, habitat mapping and assessment.
Deliver compliance activities including education and advocacy alongside enforcement.

About the Role– Mō te tūranga
We’re looking for a Tractor Driver and Fencer General to join our team on a 770ha irrigated platform, finishing approximately 4,000 head of beef cattle annually and grazing 1,500 replacements. Reporting to the Grazing Manager, you’ll:
Operate and maintain tractors and farm equipment
Build and repair fences to a high standard
Assist with stock and pasture management
Contribute to our kaupapa of sustaining land and water so our people prosper
About You – He kōrero mōu
Experience operating tractors and farm equipment (essential)
Ideally, fencing skills and general farm maintenance experience
Strong planning and organisational skills
A team-focused attitude with leadership capability
Respect for Māori cultural values and customs (Tikanga)

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Chef de Partie / Kaitunu Tuarua to join our passionate Food & Beverage team. You will assist the Head Chef in creating extraordinary dishes, maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and kai for our manuhiri. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and make your mark on a world-class tourism development. This role involves preparing and cooking meals, supervising junior staff, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to kitchen operations and menu execution.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
Ensure food quality, safety, and hygiene standards are met
Manage stock levels, order supplies, and ensure efficient kitchen operations
Assist in training and mentoring junior staff
Work alongside the team to deliver consistent, high-quality meals
Embrace Ngāi Tahu values and integrate Māori culture into the dining experience
Skills and Experience Required
Minimum of two years’ experience in a professional kitchen environment, including food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations; or a New Zealand Diploma in Cookery (Level 4) or an equivalent qualification in professional cookery or culinary arts
Strong skills in baking, food preparation, and kitchen time management
Ability to stay calm and efficient under pressure
Willingness to learn and correctly pronounce te reo Māori names and terms
Ability to work shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
Minimum Guaranteed Hours
This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum of 32 hours guaranteed per week. Additional hours may be available based on operational demand.

Ngāi Tahu Tourism is seeking a talented Senior Marketing Advisor to help champion, enhance and grow three iconic New Zealand tourism businesses. This role sits within the Marketing & Communications team based at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, which provides support across the organisation.
We’re seeking a marketing expert with a passion for tourism and proven commercial acumen to deliver targeted strategies that drive brand strength and revenue growth.
Working alongside a Marketing Advisor, you will deliver on a diverse range of activities - from digital marketing and brand collateral design, to supporting international media visits and event activations.
Your ability to build strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders is paramount.
Your work will contribute to ensuring the interests and aspirations are met for Ngāi Tahu whānui / wider family, though representational activities, protecting the rights of Ngāi Tahu whānui and delivering social and cultural programmes.
What we are looking for: Ā mātou e rapu ana
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing roles with a proven record of delivering results
Expertise in implementing marketing strategies and driving commercial outcomes
Experience overseeing digital marketing strategies including paid advertising and social media through effective agency management and internal collaboration.
Hands-on experience managing website content and functionality using CMS platforms (SilverStripe preferred).
Ability to work within brand guidelines and maintain consistency across campaigns
Skilled in copywriting, editing, and proofreading for both print and digital platforms
Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong understanding of emerging and established marketing trends
Tourism industry experience is highly desirable
A tertiary qualification in marketing or a related field is preferred
