Kōia te Mātauraka is an education specialist company jointly owned by seven rūnanga. We are seeking an Attendance Manager to lead our attendance model Te Tūhana in the Timaru catchment. Te Tūhana is the culturally responsive future-focussed framework Kōia te Mātauraka will implement in the attendance catchment to address the needs of; ākonga, whānau, kura, kaiako and communities.   • Flexibility and the skills to manage a small independent team that is also integrated into a larger established and effective team structure.

  • Confidence and competence to guide, mentor and lead Te Tūhana with educators and whānau alike.

  • Stakeholder relationship management experience, community network building and outside agency engagement.

  • New Zealand Diploma in Cookery (Level 5) or an equivalent qualification, where the above experience is not met

  • Completion of a food safety course within the past three years (desirable)

About You
You will also:

  • Have a strong understanding of kitchen operations, including baking and time management

  • Stay calm under pressure and work efficiently during busy service periods

  • Be flexible to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays

  • Be eager to learn and correctly pronounce te reo Māori names and terms

No experience needed - just passion, commitment, and a love for adventure. We'll provide paid training and licensing to get you jet boat-ready, plus ongoing development and career progression.

  • Complete our comprehensive jet boat driver training programme

  • Share the stories of our whenua and Ngāi Tahu culture with manuhiri

  • Perform daily boat checks and maintenance

  • Support customer service and team operations

What we're looking for:

  • A cool head, quick reflexes, and a love for making people smile

  • Physically fit, mentally sharp, and safety-focused

  • Full driver's license (P endorsement a bonus - we'll help you get it)

  • Keen to embrace Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori
