Mo Tatou
Mo Tatou
Kia ora koutou,
This is a brief email to acknowledge the great contribution whanau have been making to enhance the experience of Mo Tatou, the Ngai Tahu exhibition at Otago Museum.
This past week in particular has been ‘full on’ with whanau from Waihao on the job as kai manaaki during the week, the panel discussion on Thursday night, followed by Rock Art related korero & activities on Saturday and a delicious taste of Kai Tahu kai on Sunday.
Kai Tahu is being really well represented by all of those of all ages who have given up their time to come along to tautoko, to korero, waiata, answer questions, tell stories, cook and generally make sure Mo Tatou is a living exhibition. We have collectively been demonstrating kaitiakitaka in all its vibrant and many forms.
This week is slightly quieter with only 1 scheduled event, Ana Gorham will be weaving in the Mo Tatou exhibition area on Sunday 19th from 1pm until about 2.30pm. She may have an emphasis on weaving items related to traditional life such as parairai – sorry haven’t got confirmed details but there should be a flyer circulating within the next day or two. Ana would love support so please gather up whanau & go along on Sunday.
The attached photo shows Chefs Tony & Aroha busy on the job with Mat co-opted to korero about gathering kai moana on the Waikouaiti River.
